New Home At Last

We are finally all together again in our new home in Madison. As much trouble as we had getting definitive answers on the closing of this home, everything thing closed unhindered as planned on Thursday, July 26th. We had movers move the bulk of furniture on that day and the following day we drove back to Bimingham and closed on our house in Birmingham. We loaded up a Uhaul and brought the remaining stuff with us on Friday. With the help of lots of family we were able to get all the boxes to the appropriate rooms and begin to the chore of unpacking. I worked everyday unpacking a little at a time and arranging things, so at this point most of the settling work is done. You never realize how much stuff you actually have until you try to move it. I guess we are not lacking in the area of books and teaching materials! We have a stack of over 100 boxes in the garage. (Yes, I even tried counting them) After a week of feeling isolated with no Internet or cable, I am very thankful to say that we now have a phone line and Internet. Still waiting on the cable...but that is ok with me.

We love our new house and neighborhood. All the neighbors have been friendly and welcoming that we have met thus far. Savannah likes to take walks in her stroller or red car around the neighborhood and we've even made 2 trips to Bruster's already. :) It is a shame that it is less than a 5 minute walk away. The next door neighbor shared some home grown tomatoes and a bell pepper with us. With which I tried out the appliances and made this...

Savannah seems to have taken to the move pretty well. She has had more fun exploring her new surroundings. She likes all the windows she can look out and especially the windows in the kitchen were she can see the dogs. Her new thing to do whenever she sees or hears the word dog is to "woof-woof". We are trying to teach her other animal noises, so she doesn't bark everything she sees an animal. HaHa! She knows her new room and the room where all her toys are.

Other Savannah updates:

  • She now has 4 molars. (These all made their appearance in the days leading up to the move, while staying with grandparents)

  • She has an obsession with wet wipes. Loves to walk around chewing on them and then trying to clean the floor, etc.

  • Loves bubbles and balls and can say both of those words.

  • Will pick up any bag/purse, large or small and carry it around.

  • Likes her pacifier to be upside down now.

  • Very excited about her new toddler swing in the yard. She insisted on riding in it, in the shopping cart at Target. That was a sight!

  • If we are home, she wants 2 naps a day...like clockwork. Very nice for Mom! Sundays are a different story.

  • She loves her cousin Rebecca. They even had a sleep over this week.
